Dealing promptly and fairly with inappropriate behavior or unacceptable performance is critical to maintaining a productive, safe, and enjoyable work environment. When an employee consistently fails to meet agreed-upon performance expectations, the manager needs to take appropriate corrective action. This module is designed to help participants learn how to take appropriate steps to correct problem performance, while treating employees with dignity and respect.
When participants have completed this module, they will be able to:
- Plan appropriately for taking corrective action.
- Avoid common speed bumps when taking corrective action to turn performance problems around.
- Follow a six-step model for conducting a performance problem discussion.
