Overview

This session is a highly interactive core workshop for Ambassadors to practice the skills they have learned throughout their Diversity Development experiences. Based on the book "Building a House for Diversity" by R. Roosevelt Thomas, this workshop will focus on what our community has and what it still needs in order to build a house for diversity.

This workshop is only available for individuals working on their Diversity Ambassador Certificate.

Objectives

  • Discuss the components of a diverse and inclusive "house" on the Virginia Tech campus.
  • Explore paradigms and terminology that affect diversity and inclusion.
  • Understand the role of the individual in affecting diversity and inclusion.
  • Connect the participant's results of the diversity maturity index to their unit goals in the context of InclusiveVT.
